Why Do New Mums and Dads Need Jacqui Nancey's Newborn Parenting Skills?
By Jacqui Nancey RM
Baby Expert & Specialist Breastfeeding Midwife - As seen on BBC Health Newborn parenting coach.
Having a baby is a life-changing event for most mothers, fathers and definitely for their newborn baby.
First and foremost, there are no set baby manuals and no one is truly prepared for parenting life in the fast lane. Friends, family and the internet are an overwhelming source of tried and tested tips on babycare rituals, parenting books and Expert professional advice.
But the question remains.... “honey period of 2-3 weeks after your initial Baby Expert consultation or expensive six to twelve week Maternity Nurse booking...?”
Especially if your last baby is still waking up throughout the night two or three years to date.........
Finally, have you wondered why in the UK and other western cultures, mothers seem to experience more the harsh reality of postnatal loneliness and community isolation in their homes once both mother and baby have been discharged into their community following childbirth and behind closed doors?
Could all these socially accepted ‘normal’ post-birth social stressors, actually be the triggers as to why many a postnatal mother struggles with the reality of looking after her newborn baby on her own, whilst having to cope with her own painful recovery from the physical effects of giving birth as well? Regardless of having given birth naturally or from a caesarean section surgical wound?
Or do we naturally assume that once her baby’s been born safe, sound and healthy, nothing else matters except for a rapid maternal adjustment into her motherhood role despite her hormonal resetting and mental adaptation to her new parenting responsibilities – especially if it is not her first baby.
What about the demanding role and exhausting reality of sleepless nights on someone who is still weary from her recent pregnancy demands and now newly experienced childbirth reality....
WHAT COULD BE TRIGGERING THE RISING TREND IN POSTNATAL DEPRESSION
Looking at the growing trend in postnatal depression (Centre for Maternal and Child Enquiries CMACE 2011), have you ever wondered if there is a link between chronic sleep deprivation and postnatal mental stress in the triggering Of prolonged maternal baby blues, mood swings and family discord throughout those first crucial twelve weeks following childbirth?
What if the harsh reality of frequently broken sleep patterns by any new mother throughout the night feeds, combined with no practical mother and baby care support during the daytime, could actually be one of the major contributory factors...........
Yet in non-western cultures like Africa, Asia, the Middle East or South America, the birth of a baby marks the woman’s ‘social elevation’ into her new role as a mother, and the birth of her children is often celebrated by bringing together the community and bestowing appreciation towards her achievement at bearing children. The mother’s postnatal journey is greeted by her relatives, friends or neighbours, eager to come to her assistance, and this allows the mother to have that all important rest, social interaction and company after childbirth.

TESTIMONIAL - Problem-solving Breastfeeding feedback from a second time mum
At my private consultation, the results of the visit were staggering for me as a second time mum with my twelve week old baby. Jacqui and her team were incredibly friendly and very easy to get on with. I was shown how to achieve Jacqui’s Four -course Breastfeeding technique (tips you will not find in any baby books nor on the internet) yet highly effective and based on lactation physiology and sound evidence based research.
Jacqui’s Four-course Breastfeeding technique not only increases your breast milk supply; but also improves its quality and satisfaction of your baby’s appetite; that by the time my baby had got to the fourth course, he was completely wiped out and slept soundly for two hours in-between each feed. Jacqui’s support included practical information on problem-solving breastfeeding tips, how and when best in my feeding schedule to use my expressed breast-milk, the varying day and night body’s time lactation cycles and flexible day and night baby sleep/nap routines. After the visit, Jacqui emailed me a personalised day and night time routine for my son and a healthy breastfeeding diet to encourage optimum milk supply. Jacqui’s Newborn Parenting tips and advice really works
My baby is successfully getting into a structured bedtime routine and my eldest, too, is following suit too! And, to top it off, he poos every day now and rarely spits up after feeding. I will be taking my husband along to the free newborn parenting courses on Saturday, so that he can learn a thing or two as well.
